ToDev List (2020)

What is your favourite planning tool? People have asked me that many times, and I never had an answer. I had used countless to-do lists and none of them fit how I work, so in 2020 I built my own: ToDev List.

It shipped as a web app and as apps for Android, iOS and macOS, and it ran in this form until 2026, when I rebuilt it from scratch as ToDev 5.

Architecture

One Ionic codebase, written in Angular, produced the web app and the iOS, Android and macOS apps, so one person could ship and maintain 4 platforms. The NestJS backend used the same TypeScript and the same module and dependency-injection style as Angular, so the same patterns applied on both sides. On AWS the API ran on EC2, while the web app was served as static files from S3 behind CloudFront.
